En r\u00e9ponse \u00e0 une sollicitation du Minist\u00e8re de l&rsquo;Air, Francois Lehideux, alors Pr\u00e9sident de Caudron S.A., y r\u00e9pond favorablement en confiant \u00e0 D\u00e9troyat un Caudron C460.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Il s&rsquo;agit du 6909. Comme le C450R2, il a re\u00e7u un radiateur d&rsquo;huile suppl\u00e9mentaire pour parer \u00e0 tout probl\u00e8me de refroidissement en cas de surcharge moteur.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Un peu d&rsquo;histoire:<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #0000ff; text-decoration: underline;\">LES NATIONALES AIR RACES:<br \/><\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Ces comp\u00e9titions a\u00e9riennes: Gr\u00e8ve et Thompson Trophies, sont consid\u00e9r\u00e9es, en Am\u00e9rique, comme les plus importantes du monde.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Si la premi\u00e8re est r\u00e9serv\u00e9e<\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"> aux avions de cylindr\u00e9e maximum de 9 litres, la seconde <\/span><\/span>est ouverte \u00e0 tous les avions, sans limitation de cylindr\u00e9e, et la plupart des concurrents, pr\u00e9sentent des avions de 800 \u00e0 1000ch<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Pour m\u00e9moire, le moteur Renault du Caudron C460 fait 8 litres de cylindr\u00e9e et d\u00e9veloppe 350ch<\/span><\/span><\/span>!<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">En 1936, les courses eurent lieu, du 4 au 8 septembre \u00e0 Mines Field, pr\u00e8s de Los Angeles, en Californie.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>Les Nationales Air Races au travers de la presse a\u00e9ronautique de l&rsquo;\u00e9poque.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Curieusement, on ne trouve pas grand chose concernant cet \u00e9v\u00e8nement dans la presse a\u00e9ronautique fran\u00e7aise de l&rsquo;\u00e9poque, mis \u00e0 part un article dans la revue \u00ab\u00a0L&rsquo;air\u00a0\u00bb du 20 septembre 1936 dont un extrait est reproduit ci-dessous.<br \/><\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">D&rsquo;une fa\u00e7on plus g\u00e9n\u00e9rale, on se pose la question de l\u2019int\u00e9r\u00eat du d\u00e9veloppement de ces petits avions de faible cylindr\u00e9e sachant qu&rsquo;\u00e0 l&rsquo;\u00e9tranger aucune firme a\u00e9ronautique de notori\u00e9t\u00e9 ne s&rsquo;y int\u00e9resse.\u00a0 (L&rsquo;A\u00e9ronautique sept.36) <strong><a href=\"..\/ekladata.com\/s_FmMyC0ngjw9CyzANoHdDmdh7I\/360900ARN.pdf\">Lire<\/a><\/strong>.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>Le C460 et les courses des Gr\u00e8ve et Thompson Trophies<\/strong>: <\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Le 5 septembre 1936, D\u00e9troyat prit part aux \u00e9preuves de qualifications. D\u00e8s ce jour l\u00e0, il montra une sup\u00e9riorit\u00e9 tr\u00e8s nette sur ses six concurrents en triomphant sur les cinq tours du circuit de 40km et en portant le record du tour \u00e0 440km\/h.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Le 6 septembre, notre compatriote s&rsquo;aligna . Le parcours comportait vingt tours d&rsquo;un circuit de 8km. D\u00e9troyat se classa premier en effectuant une vitesse moyenne de 397,423km\/h devant Harold Neuman (362,025km\/h), Chester (300,426km\/h) et quatre autres adversaires.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Cette victoire lui valut une ovation formidable de la part des 120 000 spectateurs qui applaudirent avec succ\u00e8s. Car, rappelons le, cette m\u00eame course avait \u00e9t\u00e9 gagn\u00e9e en 1935 \u00e0 la vitesse moyenne de 345km\/h. Non seulement sa performance \u00e9tait sup\u00e9rieure de 35km\/h \u00e0 celle du second mais il avait am\u00e9lior\u00e9 le record de 52km\/h. Ajoutons que, certain de gagner cette course, D\u00e9troyat n&rsquo;avait pas pouss\u00e9 son moteur afin de le m\u00e9nager pour le Thomson Trophy.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Le d\u00e9part du Thomson Trophy fut donn\u00e9 le 7 septembre \u00e0 huit concurrents. La course fut disput\u00e9e sur quinze tours de circuit triangulaire de 16km; parcours tr\u00e8s difficile en raison de nombreux virages qu&rsquo;il n\u00e9cessitait.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">D\u00e9troyat effectua le premier tour du circuit \u00e0 la moyenne remarquable de484,309km\/h, puis rf\u00e9duisit sa vitesse tout en continuant \u00e0 prendre de l&rsquo;avance sur ses concurrents.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Finalement il se classa encore premier avec une vitesse moyenne de 425,194km\/h devant Eart Urtman qui, avec un avion Keith Reider de 1000ch Pratt &amp; Whitney obtint une moyenne de 413km\/h soit 12km de moins. D&egrave;s ce jour l&agrave;, il montra une sup&eacute;riorit&eacute; tr&egrave;s nette sur ses six concurrents en triomphant sur les cinq tours du circuit de 40km et en portant le record du tour &agrave; 440km\\\/h.<\\\/span><\\\/span><\\\/p>\\n\n\n<p><span style=\\\"color: #000000;\\\"><span style=\\\"color: #000000;\\\">Le 6 septembre, notre compatriote s'aligna . Le parcours comportait vingt tours d'un circuit de 8km. D&eacute;troyat se classa premier en effectuant une vitesse moyenne de 397,423km\\\/h devant Harold Neuman (362,025km\\\/h), Chester (300,426km\\\/h) et quatre autres adversaires.<\\\/span><\\\/span><\\\/p>\\n\n\n<p><span style=\\\"color: #000000;\\\"><span style=\\\"color: #000000;\\\">Cette victoire lui valut une ovation formidable de la part des 120 000 spectateurs qui applaudirent avec succ&egrave;s. Car, rappelons le, cette m&ecirc;me course avait &eacute;t&eacute; gagn&eacute;e en 1935 &agrave; la vitesse moyenne de 345km\\\/h. Non seulement sa performance &eacute;tait sup&eacute;rieure de 35km\\\/h &agrave; celle du second mais il avait am&eacute;lior&eacute; le record de 52km\\\/h.
